Pickleball

Drop In Pickleball

(Ages 18+)
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications. Pickleball was invented in the mid-1960s as a children’s backyard pastime, but quickly became popular among adults as a fun game for players of all levels.

Memoir Writing Class

Have you longed to write your story? Memoirists are often part archivist and part detective, using the raw material of their lives to arrive at a personal truth. Through in-class lectures and writing exercises, you’ll learn many of the techniques used by novelists and creative nonfiction writers alike, including how to write compelling scenes, create effective dialogue, and compress or speed up time. We’ll also discuss how to expand your recall and deal with the sensitivities of people who appear in your story. The workshop is designed for new memoir writers, but all levels are welcome, including writers who have taken this class previously. By the end of the session, you’ll have completed at least one essay. Class size is limited to eight.
